INFO: Security and Data PrivacySecurity and your Data Privacy are very important to us here at Track-n-Graph. For that reason, we gather very little identification information. We want you to be able to trust the TNG platform for tracking your data in a secure manner, giving you complete control over how your data is displayed, shared, and managed. This document describes how we secure your data and information, as well as how that information is used. You can find our full privacy policy here.
Use and Care of your Email Address
We gather your email address as our unique identifier for your account login. Each account requires a unique email address, and we also use it to email you password information in case you need to have it reset. We NEVER display your email address on the website, release it to the public, or sell it to advertisers.
Your email address is the only piece of information we ask from you in order to identify you.
Passwords
We DO NOT store your password, therefore we can't ever tell you what it is. This is why we require your email address so that we can set your password to a temporary password and email it to you. If you reset your password, you will be required to change it upon login. To help protect against unauthorized use of your login and password, we always send you a confirmation email anytime your password has been changed in case another individual is trying to change your information.
Your login information (email and password) is always encrypted and transmitted using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificates between your browser and our servers in order to protect your secure information over the wire.
Nicknames
Nicknames allow you to specify how you want other TNG users to see your name or moniker. This can relate to your real name or it can be a fun handle you want others to identify with. Nicknames are not unique, so it is possible for many users to have the same nickname.
Tracker Data
Your data is your data, you can download it or remove it at any time. However, as a user of TNG you grant TNG a license to use your data, please see our Terms of Service for more details on the license and warranties.
You are the only user allowed to edit your data, download it, delete it, or view it in it's detailed form. However, you can control how people can see your data in graph form through sharing and publishing. We never sell or give your data to 3rd parties or advertising firms.
Personal Tracker Properties (Birthdate, Gender, Personal health data, etc.)
Some templates ask you to enter personal information about yourself such as your birthdate (for age calculations) or your gender for comparisons. We believe that providing this information is safe because we are not storing personal identity information about you. In other words, we do not store your social security number, real name, address, phone number, or other data that would make providing a birthdate, gender, blood pressure, cholesterol level, etc. dangerous because the data itself can not be tied back to a real person. We believe the anonymity of providing the information is what makes it safe. BUT, this is always a personal decision to provide this information and you are ALWAYS in control of who can view it - whether this data is private, shared, or published.
Use of SSL and Encryption
We only use SSL for encrypting your email and password upon login, signing up for your account, and editing your profile. In this way, your personal email and password is always encrypted when transmitted over the wire.
We do not use SSL when transmitting your tracker data for editing or graph display because of performance concerns, and the fact that we feel this data is protected by the fact that is not tied to a real identity.
Any cookies we place on your machine are also encrypted at all times, regardless of SSL use.
Cookies
We do store a required session cookie (it is only available while your browser is open) on your machine so we can validate that you are authenticated. This cookie is always encrypted for your protection.
Credit Card and Payment Information
We use PayPal for our external financial transactions, therefore we DO NOT store your credit card or payment information. We only store enough information about the transaction so that if there was an issue with your payment we could communicate with PayPal in order to credit your account or resolve the issue.
