Tracking calories can be a great motivator in sticking with a new eating plan, or just simply keeping track of how you are currently eating. This simple tracker lets you enter calories for each of your meals and graph your overall trends as well as your average calories by meal type.

You can enter your calories for seven different meal types:

  • Breakfast
  • Mid-Morning Snack
  • Lunch
  • Afternoon Snack
  • Dinner
  • Dessert
  • Late-night Snack
  • ** When you are entering your calories enter 1 total for the meal type on each day. For example, if you ate a salad and 2 slices of pizza for lunch, then enter the total calories for the salad and pizza as your total for lunch, don't enter them separately. This makes it easier to track your average for the meal types over time.

    This template provides 3 built-in views for your graphs:

  • Calories by Day: displays your daily calorie total over time, a simple line graph that also includes the estimated calorie requirements from the U.S.D.A. Dietary Guidelines using your age, gender, and activity level.
  • Calories by Meal Type: displays a bar chart showing your average calories by meal type so you can see where the bulk of your calories consumption is coming from
  • To use this template, you will need to specify an average level of physical activity that best describes your lifestyle:

  • Sedentary: your lifestyle includes only the light physical activity associated with typical day-to-day life
  • Moderately Active: your lifestyle includes physical activity equivalent to walking about 1.5 to 3 miles per day at 3 to 4 miles per hour, in addition to the light physical activity associated with typical day-to-day life
  • Active: your lifestyle includes physical activity equivalent to walking more than 3 miles per day at 3 to 4 miles per hour, in addition to the light physical activity associated with typical day-to-day life
