I would suggest using our Child Growth tracker template, and just click the "Use this template" link to create one for your child. Then enter the birthdate (for age calculations) and gender. That would be all you would need to enter. Then start adding to your chart, for each entry you simply enter in the date (which is defaulted for you) and the weight of your child in pounds, and the height/length in inches. Everything else is calculated for you in the views. Once you get comfortable using the built in views, I would start experimenting with defining your own.
